In the aquarium industry you can find a great number of superbly magnificent fish to choose as your pets. The choices for an aquarium hobbyist are limitless. My focus is largely on freshwater fish which can make the selection process of picking out a favorite fish easier. Despite the fact that salt water fish are the cool kids on the block with their bright fancy colors. Freshwater tropical fish have just as much to offer. Anything that may delight you about a pet fish is readily available for the freshwater aquarium; massive fish, brightly colored fish, friendly fish, territorial fish and any other type of fish you could possibly consider, even Stingrays.
It can be hard when starting out, to pick out all of the wet pets you want with adequate understanding of the size and temperament of your fishy friends. Individual fish may be capable of residing in harmony in the beginning, but over time things can change drastically. I made handfuls of mistakes in the beginning. I had been around the aquarium hobbyist websites and knew a little about fish, but I was unaware of the possible dangers of setting up a tank full of big fish. The situation as I shortly discovered was that if you put a bunch of aggressive or even semi-aggressive fish in an aquarium that’s too small it will inevitably result in disaster.
The fish I chose were initially small and full of personality. What I quickly learned was those little fish would soon out grow their arrangement. The size of my fish increased on a daily basis, but that was the least of my worries. Several bullies began to beat up one another, tear apart the aquarium decorations and attack me anytime I put my hands in the tank. Once the tank was established for a few months things really got ugly. Frequent occurrences of scared fish, with missing and shredded fins became normal. Regretfully I even found floating skeletons of what had previously been my pets. It quickly became obvious that I would soon need a larger fish tank or a lot more of them. Living in an apartment seriously limits the amount of space you can occupy with fish tanks. Believe me its not a good position to be in. I didn’t have room for more tanks so I had to start shrinking my fish collection.
I could have averted a lot of complications and saved a ton of money and time. My decision to write is motivated primarily to help others avoid the mistakes I made. Setting up the aquarium of your dreams should be an exciting and fun experience. Owning aquariums is pleasant and rewarding and with a little help from someone who has been there a ton of unpleasant experiences can be avoided.
