General Motors has recalled more than 4000 Chevrolet Sonics for missing brake pads. A break pad is the flat piece that’s usually semi-metallic part of a metal plate that comes in contact with the brake disc rotor when you press your brakes. This creates a lot of friction which in turn causes your vehicle to stop or slow down its speed. It’s a crucial factor for your cars breaking system.
Without brake pads, your vehicle will take longer to come to a stop. It can also cause damage to your brake calipers and the brake rooter.
It’s very shocking that a car can go through the assembly line and go through quality control without someone noticing the missing brake pads. Not one person noticed the missing parts. This can come as a surprise to anyone who hears this story.
This type of neglect is an example of the lack in the quality of work that almost led General Motors to bankruptcy which was only saved due to an enormous bailout by the government. This recall has upset many General Motors drivers for there should be no reason for missing brake pads. It leads many to question if these factory workers had been sleeping on the job as this huge mistake took place. Even worse were they under the influence of alcohol or any substances that altered their decision making. It just seems unimaginable that such a mistake can occur by industry professionals.
Fortunately there haven’t been reports of any car accidents due to this mistake. However, such a human error can potentially cause a car accident which can lead to injuries or worse death. It goes to show you that you should always take your car to be thoroughly inspected by a mechanic who does not work for the dealership.
